yep…loved the first book, but liked the second one for the more mature writing. Sadly, haven’t gotten around to the third yet. The game of gods plot was set up much earlier, in the first book itself, I think. I guess he graduated from just having fun to writing a book.

I have read it. Its good but uneven. I liked the first book a LOT. I thought the second book was ok, but not as good as the first one. And the wheels came off in the third one. The Game of the Gods was just a little too convenient and let Basu throw away all internal logic. I really believe good fantasy has to be a lot more rigorous in its logic than Science Fiction needs to be, once you lose that suspension of disbelief, it doesn’t come back, and he lost it in that last book big time.

wow…I’m jealous. That’s more than I’ve read in an entire year…though, close to the number I’ve bought every month. Some day…*sigh*.

btw, have your read Samit Basu’s Gameworld Trilogy?

I’d say I didnt like “Orphans of Chaos” by comparison to the others. It was still a good read, but sometimes you would think you were reading about one character and all of a sudden you figure out your actually reading about another.

The Name of the Wind was great, but its long. I think 700ish pages.

Nice post. May be will check couple of the book laters. But why ‘Orphans of Chaos’ by John C. Wright rated 3/5 when you didn’t like it. I knw when the characters become so confusing sometimes.It’s damn irritating I must say.

Oh, by the way just loved the summary. I think I’m gonna check it out myself this coming weekend.
